I AM

Through my modelling work and poetry I am working actively on diversity. My work provides a perfect platform to create awareness and inspire others to be positive and strong in life.

Until I was 25 years my skin was completely brown. One day I noticed a white spot on my face. This was diagnosed as vitiligo, a condition where the pigment in the skin disappears.

For years I tried to hide this by camouflaging with make-up. I did this to avoid negative reactions and to hold on to my Hindu identity.

During this period, whilst people were staring at me in ignorance but also geniene interest, I realised that this was a perfect opportunity to work as an ambassador for vitiligo. I believe that ultimately your character determines your identity.
